New Album From Leo Kottke

There’s a new release out from guitar legend Leo Kottke and Phish bassist Mike Gordon. It is Kottke’s first album in 15 years which was also a collaboration with Gordon called 66 Steps. Since 1969 Kottke has released 34 studio albums in all.

The video below gives you a good taste of what to expect on the release. There is a cover of Gordon’s “Peel” and The Byrds “Eight Miles High” as well as Prince’s “Alphabet St.”. The project is produced and engineered by Jared Slomoff who has worked with Gordon through the years. Also appearing on the release, Phish drummer Jon Fishman, pedal steel player Brett Lanier (Barr Brothers) and cellist Zoe Keating (Imogen Heap, Amanda Palmer, Tears For Fears).

It looks like the Phish store is offering a “limited pressing” on gold and red vinyl for $23.00.
