A great read on Atlanta native Marion Brown and his life, career and zest for knowledge. Brown was a lot of things including writer, visual artist and ethnomusicologist… yeah, I had to look it up too… the study of the people who make the music and their cultures. Brown was most widely known as a saxophone player on the John Coltrane release Ascension in 1965 but he also was the band leader for over 30 recording projects over his career.
