It’s Friday and a new crop of vinyl is headed to the stores. I perused the list and have a few that I have my eye on. Covid is still affecting a lot of releases as this list has dwindled over the last week due to delays. I am also adding some pre-orders that would be good adds to your library as well.
First, today’s drops.
Bob Mould
Distortion: 1996 – 2007
Demon/Edsel
2021
I am a huge Bob Mould fan. From Husker Du to his first solo stint to Sugar and back to solo, I am a fan. So a box set of Mould’s work puts my ears on alert. This is nine LP’s of clear vinyl that presents the years after Sugar. Volume two in this new series covers 1996 to 2007, beginning with the 1996 self-titled solo album and continuing through to Mould’s 2006 collaboration with Rich Morel Blowoff.
If you missed the first one, Bob Mould: Distortion 1989-1995, don’t fret as there are still copies floating around.
The In-Fuzzed
The In-Fuzzed
Staubgold
2021
It was the beginning of 2019 at the WattHaus studios in Perpignan when The In-Fuzzed rose from the incandescent ashes of Hair & The Iotas. They still played garage rock, but with even more fuzz and energy! The arrival of an ex-member of El Vicio and Destination Lonely certainly shook things up a bit. After several concerts in the south of France and two singles, The In-Fuzzed now release their first, eponymous album in collaboration with Staubgold.
13 original titles, linked together seamlessly, have the listener in a state of constant alert, on the lookout for any blast and under the impression that anything may burst from the depths of this devilish rock’n’roll among roaring fuzz-pedals and explosive drums.
Jackie Gleason
Champagne, Candlelight and Kisses
Wax Time
1963 Reissue
Yes, THAT Jackie Gleason. The one who’s gonna BBQ your backside in sticky stuff. It blew my mind to see this album and then I went and found 26 more by Gleason. Now, this isn’t earth moving music but it’s not bad. You can hear samples in the playlist below as you try and get your head around the fact that Jackie Gleason was also a musician.
… And now for a couple pre-orders
